What to Prepare Before Building a Business Website

The fastest website projects are the ones where the business has a few things ready before design starts. You do not need everything perfect, but preparing these items will save weeks and give you a better result.

1. One clear goal

Decide what the website must do: bring enquiries, sell products online, show a catalogue to dealers, or build trust before a sales call. Every page and button is then designed around that goal.

2. A simple page list

Most business websites need Home, About, Products or Services, a page for each main product or service, Contact and perhaps a Gallery or Clients page. Write the list and mark the most important pages.

3. Your content

• A short company introduction and what makes you different,
• product or service descriptions with key details,
• contact details, address, working hours and WhatsApp number,
• common customer questions and your answers.

Rough notes are fine. Your web team can edit them into clear, search-friendly text.

4. Good photos

Real photos of your products, team, office or factory build trust far better than stock images. If your current photos are dark or low quality, a short professional shoot is one of the best investments for the site.

5. Logo and brand colours

Share your logo in a high-quality format (AI, SVG or PDF) and your brand colours. If your logo is outdated, it can be a good time to refresh it so the new website and brand launch together.

6. Domain and access

Check who owns your domain and email accounts, and collect the logins. This avoids delays on launch day.

7. Examples you like

Note two or three websites you like, from any industry, and what you like about them: the layout, colours, photos or simplicity. This helps the designer understand your taste quickly.
