Export Website Checklist: What International Buyers Look For

For an exporter, the website is often the first meeting with a buyer. A purchase manager in Europe, the Middle East or the US will usually look at your site before replying to a quote, and they decide in a few minutes whether you look like a reliable supplier. These are the things they look for.

A clear product catalogue

Group products into simple categories, and give every product its own page with clear photos, sizes or specifications, materials, finishes and packaging details. Buyers compare suppliers side by side, so make the details easy to find and easy to copy into their notes.

Proof that you are a real company

• Factory or office address and a map,
• photos of your facility, team and production process,
• certifications such as ISO, CE or industry approvals, shown as images or downloadable PDFs,
• years in business and markets you already export to.

Fast, simple enquiry

Add an enquiry button on every product page that pre-fills the product name. Offer email, a short form and WhatsApp, because buyers in different countries prefer different channels. Reply quickly: response time is part of the buyer’s first impression.

Speed and mobile layout

Many buyers browse on a phone between meetings or at trade fairs. Compress product photos, avoid heavy sliders and test the site on a slow connection. A page that takes too long to open loses the visitor before they see your products.

Language and wording

Write in simple, correct English with standard trade terms (MOQ, lead time, FOB, CIF). If you focus on one region, consider a second language for the key pages.

Downloadable catalogue

Many buyers still share a PDF catalogue with their team. Keep one up to date and offer it as a download, ideally after a short form so you know who is interested.
